2D barcode generator

“2D barcode” most often means a QR code, the two-dimensional format nearly every phone camera can scan without an app. Generate one below.

What counts as a 2D barcode?

Any barcode that stores data in a grid of squares rather than a line of bars. QR codes are by far the most common, used on packaging, signage, payments and marketing, followed by Data Matrix, which is more often seen on small parts and electronics where space is too tight for even a QR code.

Do you generate Data Matrix codes?

Not yet. This site generates QR codes, which cover the large majority of 2D barcode use cases. Data Matrix uses different underlying encoding logic we haven’t built and verified, so rather than guess, we’re not offering it until we have.

Higher error correction survives more damage or a logo overlay, at the cost of a denser code. M is a safe default for most uses.

Everything runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere.

See every QR code option on the QR code generator page, or the linear formats on the barcode generator.
