Shopify barcode generator
Shopify has a barcode field on every product variant, but it doesn’t generate the barcode symbol for you. Here’s how to fill it in correctly.
Where does the barcode go in Shopify?
Each product variant has a “Barcode (ISBN, UPC, GTIN, etc.)” field in its inventory settings. Shopify stores whatever you type there and can print it on packing slips and pick lists, but it doesn’t validate that the number is registered anywhere, and it doesn’t generate the scannable symbol itself.
How do you generate the actual barcode symbol?
Enter the same number from your Shopify barcode field into the generator below. Download it as SVG or PNG to print on packaging or a warehouse label. Shopify’s field just stores the number, so having the printed symbol match it is up to you.
Everything runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere.
Need a QR code in Shopify instead? See the Shopify QR code generator.
A barcode generated on this page is not a registered GTIN. It encodes whatever number you enter into a valid, scannable symbol. It does not register that number to you. Selling through a retailer or listing on a marketplace under most categories requires a number issued to your business by GS1. See do you need a GS1 number before you print at scale.
