Amazon product barcodes

Most new Amazon listings need a GTIN (a UPC or EAN), and the number matters more than whether the barcode you print looks correct.

Can you list on Amazon without a barcode?

Sometimes. Amazon offers GTIN exemptions for certain categories and private-label brands enrolled in Brand Registry. If you qualify for an exemption, you don’t need a UPC or EAN at all; Amazon issues its own internal identifier instead. If you don’t qualify, you need a real, registered GTIN.

Once you have a valid number, how do you generate the barcode?

Enter it below: UPC-A for North American products, EAN-13 for most everywhere else.

SVG stays sharp at any size and is what you want for printing. PNG is easier to drop into a spreadsheet or listing.

Everything runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere.

Selling FBA and need a unit label instead? See Amazon FNSKU barcodes.

A barcode generated on this page is not a registered GTIN. It encodes whatever number you enter into a valid, scannable symbol. It does not register that number to you. Selling through a retailer or listing on a marketplace under most categories requires a number issued to your business by GS1. See do you need a GS1 number before you print at scale.
